Manson construction

Survey and Engineering intern

As a Survey and Engineering Intern with Manson Construction in Jacksonville, I have supported both local and nationwide dredging projects by combining fieldwork with technical analysis. My responsibilities include conducting beam stress analyses that account for dredged material and pipe properties to determine optimal pipe float configurations, as well as producing weekly bathymetric maps to monitor project progress and guide scheduling. I also perform sieve analyses and soil evaluations on boring samples, documenting results through detailed graphs and reports to improve project record-keeping and material assessment. Beyond fieldwork, I assist the Estimating Department by preparing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reports on past dredging projects, providing critical data that informs cost modeling and pricing strategies for future bids. This role has strengthened my skills in structural and geotechnical analysis, surveying, and technical documentation while exposing me to the operational and financial complexities of large-scale civil and marine engineering projects.
