Voluntary Process engineering consultant
As part of a student-led consulting team in the Community Excellence Alliance, I worked with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority to evaluate the removal of 819 obsolete parking sensors in the Jacksonville International Airport’s hourly parking garage. In a leadership role, I coordinated meetings, delegated tasks based on teammates’ strengths, and maintained clear communication with both our project champion and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt project mentor. Our team conducted a root-cause analysis of the existing occupancy data collection process and developed multiple removal strategies, supported by detailed cost and risk analyses. The final recommendation provided the authority with a long-term solution projected to eliminate more than $26,000 in unnecessary annual labor expenses while improving operational reliability and safety. This project strengthened my skills in process improvement, cost modeling, and stakeholder communication, and also led to my certification as a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
